4 Wheel Driving

The Barkly is Cattle Country and while most of the region is private property there is still plenty of opportunity to get off the beaten track and test your driving skills.

The 2190 kilometre Binns Track starts at Mt Dare, just across the South Australia border, and finishes in Timber Creek about 230 kilometres East of Kununurra.  Much of the route takes you through the vast open spaces of the Barkly.

The rugged Davenport Ranges are great for camping and swimming. The 1120 square kilometre park also offers some of the best four-wheel driving in the Territory.  The network of tracks criss-crossing the park includes the challenging 17-kilometre Frew River loop track to the Old Police Station Waterhole, the park’s best-known attraction. Make sure you are well equipped!
